Case Study: Bursting With Music

Sunlight wanted to give back to its loyal consumers by surprising and delighting a church congregation. This was done as collaboration with Sunlight’s Bursting with Music Campaign, where consumers could download Gospel Music, when purchasing a Sunlight product. A Branded Bus Shelter was erected in KwaMashu, which enabled users to download songs for free using the Wi-Fi.

Overview of Campaign

A beautiful day dawned bright and clear on Sunday the 16th of August, creating the perfect setting for the once in a lifetime Sunlight “Bursting with Music” activation, held at Esangweni Lutheran church in KwaMashu.

Unsuspecting parishioners started arriving at around 07:30am and were delighted to see a different kind of set-up in the church – with bold white and yellow draping at the altar. Pastor Brian Maseko held a dynamic service and built-up tremendous hype for the grand surprise of a performance from much loved South African gospel artists: Rebecca, Hlengiwe and Sifiso.
With the church almost rocking on its foundations, parishioners welcomed in their beloved celebrities. This was followed by announcement of the golden ticket bus rides – a mad scramble ensued as parishioners eagerly checked under their chairs.

The Matriarch team were on stand-by, ready to escort lucky winners to their respective buses, which had been fully decked-out in glorious Sunlight style.
