What do you think makes Matriarch special?

Matriarch stands out not just as a workplace but as a close-knit community, thanks to Leanne’s vision of cultivating a family-oriented environment. This approach underscores our interactions with each other, fostering a supportive and nurturing atmosphere that encourages personal growth and teamwork.

What is the biggest challenge in your role, and how do you overcome it?

One of the most significant challenges in my role involves navigating the unpredictability of the experiential marketing industry, where large-scale projects with tight deadlines are the norm rather than the exception. This dynamic environment tests our financial planning and cash flow management, as these projects often require substantial investment on short notice. Balancing the need to seize these opportunities while ensuring financial stability requires a vigilant and strategic approach to managing our resources.

To effectively address this challenge, we’ve instituted a mix of proactive and reactive financial strategies, such as maintaining a contingency fund specifically for such unforeseen projects. This strategic blend of preparedness and flexibility ensures we can capitalize on sudden opportunities without compromising our financial health. It’s a delicate balance, but by prioritising agile financial planning and robust cash flow monitoring, we manage to turn potential obstacles into avenues for growth and success.

Do you have a significant life moment you would like to share?

A pivotal moment in my life was when I embarked on a new journey by moving to Pennington. This wasn’t just a change of scenery; it represented a profound shift in my personal and professional life. Pennington offered me a fresh start and new opportunities to explore. It was here that I truly began to understand the balance between work and personal life, embracing the community and the slower pace of life. This move wasn’t just about relocating; it was about finding a new place to call home, where I could grow, learn, and contribute in meaningful ways.

What’s your favourite way to unwind and relax after a busy day at work?

A: After a day filled with numbers, strategies, and decisions, my favourite way to unwind is by sharing quality time with my husband over a gin and tonic. This simple ritual is more than just a moment of relaxation; it’s an opportunity for connection and reflection.

Through strategic foresight and a commitment to excellence, Shirley navigates the complexities of finance and administration, ensuring Matriarch’s continued growth and stability in the ever-evolving experiential marketing landscape. Thank you, Shirley, for being an indispensable pillar of our team.
