Experiential Marketing in The Time of Corona

The world we live in, has evolved, adapted and changed at an alarming rate over the past few years. We have been catapulted from a place, where social platforms such as myspace, Facebook and Instagram were bit of a novelty, to a space  – where even before “social distancing” – online communication was starting to become the preferred first contact for consumer engagement.

In the midst of this global pandemic, we are grateful beyond measure for how we all remain connected from the safety of our homes over the “great lockdown of 2020”. Screen time has gone up at an alarming rate over the last week. Don’t believe me? Go check your app.

We are bombarded on the daily with the what-to-dos, the what-not-to-dos, the stats, the deaths, the doom, the gloom. And maybe in between it all, we get to see a few posts on positivity and some great tips on how to become more agile.

People are living vicariously through their social media personas. Though this may diminish somewhat post covid-19, we know, without doubt, that digital is bigger than all of us.

So, what does this mean for Experiential Marketing, that up until now, has been heavily reliant on the face-to-face engagement with consumers? It means that we are sitting on the advent of an exciting new era. An era of deeper engagement, through more diverse channels. An era where experiences will be prevalent everywhere and always-on – not just at our activations. We are beyond excited. The human touch will never go out of fashion. And we cannot wait to create more immersive face-to-face experiences in the future. But… the challenge to adapt and show our agility could not have come at a more important time in our history.

The world NEEDS positive impact. And that, is what is at the heart of Matriarch – creating positive impact in peoples lives.

We cannot wait to share this journey with you all. Experiential is evolving, and we all have the opportunity to make history. Now is the time to collaborate, create and kick corona in the ass!

Dear South Africa & The World, we know things look dark right now, but we have full faith that together, we will rise and there WILL be a brighter tomorrow. And when that tomorrow comes, we will be here on the frontlines for you and your brands!
